Cheryl Hilterbrand is a pianist and composer specializing in solo piano and orchestration works in Springfield, Missouri.
Raised in northeastern Mississippi, her love of piano began at the wee age of only four years old, when her older sisters were in lessons. Her early environment nurtured her love of the instrument and wired her brain to be able to play by ear. In childhood, Cheryl began classical training and eventually studied piano privately at a local university during high school, when her family moved to Missouri. While piano has been present for the majority of Cheryl's life, musical theatre also played a big role in her upbringing and early adulthood, where she attended both Murray State University and Southwest Missouri State University for musical theatre and dance. After some significant life changes in 2016, Cheryl returned to the piano, where she discovered the music that had always followed her in her head was hers. So, she began to compose.
Currently, Cheryl teaches piano at a local music store in Springfield and has returned to Missouri State University to complete a BM in Music Composition. While there, she is training to compose for piano educational purposes, as well as orchestration, and composing for film and TV. She is set to graduate in the fall of 2027.
Cheryl's music has been used for weddings and choreography, and is most recently being used this fall as transition music in a community theatre production of The Counter, at TNT in Birmingham, AL. Her two EP's, Stories I Have Never Told, Vol. 1 and 2 are available for both streaming and digital download, with sheet music available soon from the series.
Her compositions range from peaceful and melodic to melancholic and dramatic. Each piece takes you through a story from her life--without a word ever being said.
